Managed to find some lights that weren't too bright and putting out a lot of heat, originally 60watt they're now 25watt. They're not as blinding as before. Having trouble trying to get in touch with some transparent vinyl so I can use a similar effect to what I'm trying to achieve with the posters, layering primary colours to create secondary colours when the are over each other. The photo of the light box isn't too great, mainly because I can't stand it anywhere at the moment. It needs it's legs. Also the inside lights don't look too bright, mainly because I didn't give them long enough to brighten up.

Hide Your Assets 09/09/2009

Playing on words can be fun. At the moment I'm quite angry with this entire privatisation thing. Rodney Hide and John Key seem to be all for it but don't consider the long term effects of selling our assets. So I came up with this concept for a poster. A certain somebody gave me the idea to post it up on John Keys or Rodney Hides electoral office. Then I just saw this in the news.

I also started thinking a lot more about politics and how two sided they were. Speaking in a confusing language. When they said they wanted to "broaden the tax bracket" what they really meant was to shift the tax burden from the rich to the poor. This was termed the New Zealand Experiment by Jane Kelsey from Auckland University. Currently our right wing government is looking at privatising our country again to stimulate the economy under smoke screens, but this is another story. Also there is a bit about how much politicians earn and their living allowances being heavily inflated and them abusing their privileges. This is where I cam up with this concept. LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES with EARN YOUR TAKE layered over the top. It becomes confusing to the viewer what is really being said.
As you can see from the above images, I started putting more thought into how I could portray that it was about money while not being so heavy handed in my approach. Looking close up at our money and how patterns are made and the use of layering colours to create secondary colours.
